Strategically located between the
Black Hills of South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park, the Worland
Campground is 30 miles west of the Big Horn Mountains, offering wonderful creeks
and lakes for trout fishing, boating, hiking, picnic areas, and many photo
opportunities of the beautiful area and abundant wildlife. Elk, antelope, deer,
moose and different game birds can be encountered daily.
Locally, Worland offers an excellent
18 hole golf course and many exploring opportunities of geological sites nearby
for the outdoor enthusiast. Worland has many parks, schools, churches, doctor's
offices and a newly remodeled hospital. Coming in the near future will be new
Washakie Museum to replace the existing museum. The museum currently offers an
opportunity to relate to the living environment of the early settlers from
thousands to hundreds of years ago. Many exhibits, including a major historical
photograph collection and learning programs related to history, art, geology.
archaelogy, and palentology of the area. Musical and theatrical events are
offered occasionally. Another area of local interest is the Gooseberry Scenic
Area. It provides a panoramic view of sculptured landscape ranging from geologic
arches, goblins, hoodoos, mushrooms to castles. It's just 10 miles south of
Worland.
